Welcome to The Kindness Corner

Being healthy is more than eating a balanced diet, getting some exercise, not smoking or drinking too much alcohol. After all, we kind of know these things are important already: it is drilled into us daily! But that doesn't make it any easier to be healthy. Good physical health has to start with good mental health.

WhAT DOES KINDNESS REALLY MEAN?

Kindness is:

The value of being friendly, gentle and caring with yourself. We are good at being kind to others, but are you friendly, gentle and caring with yourself?

Do you ever put yourself first? or do you put others first? Always?

What does kindness to yourself look like, sound like, feel like?

It's often more natural to think of others first and care and consider their needs before your own. I am a therapist with nearly 30 years experience and sometimes I struggle with being kind to myself. I know it is important and I tell my clients to be kinder to themselves, but in truth I also know how hard it is. I feel like a fraud sometimes, but you know what, I also realise, I'm human too and so are you!

So let's have a go at kindness

When you lack confidence, feel like an imposter, don't feel like you are enough, this is a place to learn and hopefully find some practical strategies. This is not intended as a treatment space it is educational only. It is intended more as a place to explore being kinder to yourself and what might help you to think about what is important to you.  If you are experiencing anxiety or depression that is impacting on your day to day living please see your doctor and speak to them about some options to help.
